ALBEMARLE -- Mr. Austin, 73, of Albemarle, NC, died Saturday, November 1, 2003 at his home. He was born March 22, 1930 in Stanly County, NC, the son of the late Colon Furr Austin and Pearl V.Austin. He was retired from Concord Telephone Co. and was a veteran of the US Army, Korean Conflict.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel with The Rev. Dennis Helms officiating. Burial will be in Silver Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, Norwood, NC. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Monday at Hartsell Funeral Home-Albemarle.
The family will be at his home, 16414 Tyson Rd., Albemarle, NC. Military honors by Stanly County DAV, Chapter 12.
He was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include wife, Norma Jean Ingold Austin of the home; daughters, Darlene A. Moyle and husband Mike of Albemarle, NC and Tammy A. Hinson of Albemarle, NC; brother, Cecil Austin of Oakboro, NC; sister, Betty A. Whitley of Oakboro, NC; grandchildren, Charles Swaringen, Jessica Moyle, Phillip Moyle and April Hinson.
Memorials may be made to Silver Springs Baptist Church, 16072 Hwy 138, Norwood, NC 28128 or Hospice of Stanly County, 960 N. First St., Albemarle, NC 28001.
