Betty Sue Pickler Thompson 73 of Norwood passed away Tuesday afternoon, October 6, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00PM Friday, October 9, 2015 at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Todd McSwain will officiate and burial will follow in Silver Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 Thursday Evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Thompson was born July 2, 1942 in Stanly County. She was a daughter of the late Houston and Mary Lee Mauldin Pickler. She was a 1960 graduate of New London High School and a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She worked for many years with Cassie Cotillion of Norwood and retired with Stanly County Schools having worked at Central Elementary Cafeteria.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years Larry L. Thompson of the home. One son Alan Thompson and wife Lorie and one daughter Stacey T. Goforth and husband Gary all of Norwood. One brother, Caroll Pickler and wife Jeanette of Albemarle. Two sisters, Jewell Chagaris of New London and Frances Lee Rummage and husband Jim of Albemarle. Four Grandchildren, Ashley Starnes and husband Matt, Brandi Goforth, Courtney Wiley and husband Justin, and Cody Thompson. One Great-Grandson, Landon Starnes and was awaiting two more great-grandchildren soon.
She was preceded in death by a brother and sister, Howard Pickler and Ramelle Frick.
