Sarah Vera Basinger

Mrs. Sarah Vera Basinger, 77, of Salisbury, passed away Monday, Jan 9, 2012, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.

She was born Sept 12, 1934, in Rowan County to the late John Frank Hall and Mamie Hutchens Hall. Mrs. Basinger was educated in Winston-Salem schools, worked in the cafeteria at Granite Quarry School and was a homemaker.

She was of the independent Faith and loved baking, cooking and sewing.

Mrs. Basinger is survived by her husband of 52 years, William Lee Basinger, whom she married Sept 13, 1959, sons William "Billy" Dean Basinger and wife Jennifer of Rockwell, Gary Basinger and wife Jane of Gold Hill; daughter Terri Powlas and husband Alan of Salisbury; sister Bessie Cress; eight grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Visitation: The family will receive friends Wednesday, Jan 11 from 6:30-8 p.m. at Powles Funeral Home.

Service: Services will be held Thursday, Jan 12 at 2 p.m. at the Powles Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Rev. Bill Ketchie, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Burial will follow at Brookhill Memorial Gardens.

Memorials: May be made to American Cancer Society.

Powles Funeral Home is assisting the Basinger family.
