KANNAPOLIS - Sarah Furr Carter, 83, of 1219 Clifton St., died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008, at CMC-NorthEast, Concord. The funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Bethpage Presbyterian Church, Kannapolis, with the Rev. Darrell Baker officiating. Interment will be at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Whitley's Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the home.

Mrs. Carter was born July 13, 1924, in Stanly County, the daughter of the late Luther Furr and the late Ester Lambert Furr. She retired from Cannon Mills Company Plant 1, Sewing Room, after more than 30 years. She was a member of Bethpage Presbyterian Church, where she was former Sunday school teacher and member of Ladies Circle and Extension Homemakers Club.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Carter, who died in 1968; stepmother, who raised her, Bell Biles; her twin sister, Onnarah Morris; and three brothers, Roy Burris, Horace Scarborough and Melvin Furr. Survivors include her daughters, Cindy Wilson of Charlotte and Sharon Ferguson of Kannapolis; grandchildren, Joshua and Ashley Wilson, Logan and Tessa Ferguson; and sisters, Marie Cauble of Mount Pleasant, Nell Moucha of Concord, Doris Morgan and Mae Morgan, both of Richfield.
