Robert Glenn "Bob" White, age 79, of Sophia died Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro.
Mr. White was born February 12, 1934 the son of Robert L. and Minnie Furr White.
Mr. White was a native of Randolph County and was an active member of Charlotte United Methodist Church where his sang in the choir. He was a veteran of the US Army and retired from Jockey International as the maintenance manager. Bob enjoyed going to the beach, fishing, working in the garden and flowers. Bob loved spending time with his family and grandchildren and eating breakfast with friends at P & J's Diner.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Richardson White and three brothers, J.C. White, Worth White and Keith White.
He is survived by his son, Greg White and his wife, Terri of Sophia, NC; daughter, Rhonda White Williams and her husband, Ronald of Liberty; grandchildren, Lucy Williams, Owen White and Tradd White; three brothers: Ray White and Charles White both of Archdale, James V. White of Sophia; five sisters: Carol Hicks, Doris Carter, Rachel Hunsucker and Mary Lee Morgan all of Archdale, and Sarah Earnhart of Asheboro, numerous nieces and nephews, and special friend, Ruby H. Baker.
The family will receive friends Monday, October 14, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Charlotte United Methodist Church, 1182 Charlotte Church Rd., Asheboro with Rev. Angel Christ and Rev. Steve Wood officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials to: Hospice of Randolph or Charlotte United Methodist Church.
