Wayne M. Furr, age 73, died on Saturday, December 30, 2006 after a brief illness.
Wayne married his childhood sweetheart, Barbara Idol, in 1952. After working for Weingarten's for 20 years as an air conditioning and refrigerator repairman, he went into business for himself in 1985 and retired in 1998.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Barbara; daughters, Kimberly Smith, Sandra Kaye Craghead and husband Jim, Karen Leigh Haedge and husband Robert, and Kris Dougherty; grandchildren, Brandon Taylor, Lela Smith, Kyle, Lucy and James Craghead, Sarah and husband Cody Miller, Zachary and Hannah Haedge, Raynor Cox, Logan Dougherty and Holden McFarland; one great granddaughter, Olivia Rose Miller; and brothers, Rev. Max Taylor Furr, Jimmy Worth Furr, and George Madison Furr.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2007 in the chapel of Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, 12800 Westheimer Road. A visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Wayne M. Furr Scholarship Fund, c/o Amegy Bank, 9212 Hwy 60, E. Bernard, Texas 77435.
