MT. PLEASANT Gladwell Newell Efird 74, of 3950 Paige Road, died Wednesday, September 12, 2001 at NorthEast Medical Center.
Funeral service is 2 PM Friday, September 14, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord, with Reverend Max Vanderburg officiating. Interment will be in Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis, with Military Rites conducted by DAV Chapter 27. The family will receive friends from 6-8:30 PM Thursday, September 13, at Hartsell Funeral Home, Concord.
Mr. Efird was a native of Union County, NC, born September 9, 1927 to the late Mary Howard Efird and the late William Jason Efird. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the United States Army, and belonged to Iron Workers Local 843 as a structural steel welder. Mr. Efird was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Lambert Efird of the home; two daughters, Deborah Efird Bradford and husband, Ray, of Concord, and Lu Ann Efird Foster and husband, Gary, of Simpsonville, SC; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Mt. Pleasant, NC.
The family will be at the residence, 3950 Paige Road, Mt. Pleasant, NC 28124.
