Bobby Barbee
Bobby McClain Barbee, 79, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008, at CMC-Northeast in Concord.
Funeral service was at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30, at Providence Church of God, Locust, with a 30 minute state. The Rev. Jerry Ingle, The Rev. Doyle Holder and The Rev. Patrick Womack officiated and interment was at Providence Church of God Cemetery in Locust.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29 and at other times at his home on Austin Road.
Mr. Barbee was employed by Cannon Mills Plant #1 as a supervisor and retired from Chematron, Charlotte. He was of the Presbyterian faith. He served our country with six years of active service in the U. S. Air Force and 25 years in the Air Force National Guard.
He was the son of the late Dewey Alfred Barbee and the late Ora Lee Hatley Barbee.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Alene Tucker Barbee; two sons, Steve Barbee and wife, Deborah, of Monroe and Eddie Barbee of Oakboro; one daughter, Sherry Potts and husband, James, of New London; two sisters, Shirley Kluttz and Judy Parnell of Locust; one brother, Roger Barbee of Locust; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
