Donald “Don” Adam Allman

Donald “Don” Adam Allman, 86, most recently of High Point, died on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2019, at Pennybyrn at Maryfield following a lengthy illness.

He was born in 1932 in Salisbury. He was a graduate of China Grove High School and received a bachelor of science degree in business from Pfeiffer University after serving four years in the United States Navy during the Korean conflict.

Don worked for the U.S. government for 40 years. He began his career at the VA Medical Center in Salisbury. He later joined the U.S Department of Labor, Wage and Hour Division and stayed there until his retirement in 1994.

Prior to moving to High Point, Don lived in Gibsonville, McLeanville, Greensboro and Durham.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara Lentz Allman; three sons and their spouses, Mark and Leslie Allman of Durham, Christopher Allman and Michael Bradshaw of Granite Falls and Brian and Susan Allman of Archdale; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Stella and Adam Allman and a daughter, Donna Allman who died in 1974.

Service & Visitation: A celebration of Don's life will be held at First Lutheran Church of Greensboro on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019 at 11 a.m., immediately followed by a visitation at the church. On Sunday, Feb. 3, 2019, a visitation will be held at Lutheran Chapel in China Grove from 2:30-4 p.m.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, contributions in Don's name may be made to the American Parkinson's Disease Association, First Lutheran Church of Greensboro (NC) or the National Epilepsy Foundation.
