Notes for Mary Catherine Koontz
Mary Catherine Koontz Brady

Mary Catherine Koontz Brady, 88, of Salisbury passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Rowan County on June 26, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Wilma Leigh Gobble and James Koontz.

Mary raised four wonderful children, and their children, and their children. She was “Mimi” to all. She enjoyed traveling all over the US after her spouse’s retirement in their motor home, making many friends along the way. Mary loved to read. She loved anything with military history, Kennedy history, and she loved Princess Diana. She enjoyed gardening and had a love for butterflies. Mary was a lifelong member of Union Lutheran Church, and was a member of the Southern Railroad Ladies Club, and the Winnebago Camping Club.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Billy Frank Brady. She was his “Princess and Bride” and made a home wherever Southern Railway moved them. They had a very special loving relationship. She was also preceded in death by a sister.

Left to cherish her memory are 1 sister, 3 brothers, 4 children, 6 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren on the way.

Mary had many caregivers over the past 10 years. The family would like to give a special thank you to Beth, Mary Ann, Carol, Peyton, and Misty for loving mom like we did.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Union Lutheran Church, 4770 Bringle Ferry Rd., Salisbury.

Lyerly Funeral Home is serving the Brady family.
