Oneida Earnhardt Wyatt

Oneida Earnhardt Wyatt, 96, of Badin, N.C., passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2016 in Novant Health Center, Huntersville, NC. Her service will be 11 AM Monday, November 14, 2016 in the Badin United Methodist Church with Rev. Beau Linker officiating.  Burial will follow in Stanly Gardens of Memory.  The family will receive friends on Sunday November 13 at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care from 2 until 5 PM.

Born December 14, 1919 in Rowan County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Jacob Thaddeus Earnhardt and Lucy Jane Lentz.  She was a homemaker and a lifetime member of Badin United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday School Superintendent, 100th Anniversary Homecoming Committee Chairperson, held every position in the United Methodist Women including president several times, and was a member and also secretary of the Church Administrative Board for many years.  She was a graduate of Rockwell High School.  She was the treasurer for the Badin Museum, was active in the Stanly County Senior Center with Basket Weaving, and was a cake decorator.  Mrs. Wyatt was a member of the Badin Home Extension Club, a substitute teacher at North Stanly High School and Badin School, a member of the Better Badin Festival Committee, taught Tatting at Stanly Community College.

Mrs. Wyatt was preceded in death by her husband Jay N. Wyatt on November 1, 1996.  Survivors include daughters Sybil Overcash and husband Ronnie of Huntersville, and Jane Beard and husband Mark of Wakarusa, IN, 4 grandchildren, Ronnie II, Kasie, Stacie and Weston and 3 great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Jayden, Caysen, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by brothers Carlee “Red” Earnhardt and Roy Earnhardt and sisters Mildred Walton and Daisy Belle Peeler.

Memorials may be made to the Badin UMC or to the Badin Historic Museum.
