Claude Raymond Hill

SALISBURY - Claude Raymond Hill, 82, of Salisbury, died Friday, June 22, 2007, at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Hill was born March 28, 1925, in Rowan County, a son of the late Charlie Lee and Emma Stoner Hill. He was educated in the Rowan County school system and worked for the North Carolina Finishing Company for 39 years until his retirement in 1984.

Mr. Hill also founded Hill's Minnow Farm in 1965 and worked there until retiring in 1989. Mr. Hill continued to help in the store until 2000. Raymond was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church of Salisbury.

Mr. Hill was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Casper Hill, whom he married on April 14, 1946, and a daughter, Katie Sue Hill, who died June 15, 1949. Also preceding him in death were brothers Alvin Hill and Dewey Hill.

Survivors include son Terry Hill and wife Susan of Salisbury; daughter Aileen Hill of the home; brother John Hill of Salisbury; sisters Rachel Fesperman and Doris Morgan of Salisbury and Agnes Dry of Gold Hill; granddaughters Mary Etta Hill of Goose Creek, S.C., and Lisa Ann Hill of Salisbury.

Visitation: Visitation will be tonight from 6:30-8:30 at Powles Funeral Home. The family will be at their home the remainder of the time.

Service: Funeral Services will be at 4 pm Sunday at St. Matthews Lutheran Church conducted by the Rev. Gary S. Coble Pastor. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
