Sunday, March 23, 2008 — Ruby Lambert Swaringen, 91, of 37343 Melton Road, Albemarle, died at 11:25 a.m. Friday March 21, 2008, at her home. Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Stanly Funeral Home Chapel The Rev. Jessie Dennis will officiate and burial will be in Randalls United Methodist Church Cemetery, Norwood. Born Aug. 21, 1916, in Stanly County, she was a daughter of the late Wiley Jerome “W.J.” and Scrappy Lowder Lambert and was a homemaker. She was a member of Centerview Baptist Church. She was married to Merlin Clegg Swaringen, who preceded her in death in 1964. A son, J.D. Swaringen, also preceded her in death. She is survived by two sons, George E. Swaringen of Woodbury, Ga., and Michael C. Swaringen of Albemarle; three daughters, Linda Edwards of Kannapolis, Tina Smith and Betty Bargesser, both of Albemarle; a brother, Dave Lambert of Albemarle; two sisters, Pete Morton and Beulah Mabe, both of Albemarle; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly County.
