Vance Almond

Mr. Vance Almond, 70 years of age, of Mt Pleasant, passed away Monday, April 14, 2014 at his home.

Vance was born May 1, 1943 in Cabarrus County to the late Loyd Pierson Almond and the late Bessie Mae Furr Almond. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Ray Almond.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Jacqueline Tookey and Rev. Mike McClellan, will be at 3:00 PM, Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Salem United Methodist Church, 20987 Hwy 73, Albemarle, NC. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

A loyal and loving husband and father, his grandchildren were a great source of joy and a large part of his life. He was skilled with his hands, working 45 years for Moss Supply in Charlotte, NC, and he spent his free time woodworking and gardening at his home in Mt. Pleasant. He loved racing, traveling, and volunteering his time with the Millingport VFD and his church.

He is survived by wife, Linda Shoe Almond of Mount Pleasant; two sons, Ronald Almond and wife, Kathy of Denver, NC, and Jeff Almond and wife, Shawn of Mooresville; grandson, Tanner Almond and wife, Lindsay of Charlotte; three granddaughters, Meredith Almond of Atlanta, GA, and Natalie and Alexa Almond of Mooresville; two sisters, Hilda Ritchie and Vickie Harris.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Salem United Methodist Church, or Millingport VFD.

Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Almond family.
