Glenn Hayden Carter

Mr. Glenn Hayden Carter, 71, of Salisbury, died unexpectedly Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at NorthEast Medical Center after three months of declining health. Mr. Carter was born May 23, 1933 in Rowan County, a son of the late Nellie Sifford Carter and George Isaac Carter and was a graduate from China Grove High School. Mr. Carter was a brick mason for over 50 years. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church where he was a former advisor of Luther League and was co-founder of Boy Scout Troop 315 of Grace Church where he served as Scout Master for 5 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife Faye Upright Carter, who died November 14, 2002.

He is survived by two daughters, Spring Bame and fiance Grover Brown of Rockwell and Sonya Fink and husband Tommy of Spencer; six brothers, Charles Carter and wife Betty of Faith, Bill Carter and wife Jean of China Grove, Hoy Carter and wife Faye, L.M. Carter and wife Faye, all of Salisbury, Mayford Carter and wife Ruby Jane of Rockwell and Claude Carter of Little Falls, NJ; a sister, Barbara Luther and husband Ralph of Landis; three granddaughters, Scarlett McHone and son Daniel Walters of Salisbury, Summer Black and husband Joe and children Bradley and Clay of China Grove and Glenda Cline and husband Jermaine and children J'Marius and Jaden of Spencer; step-grandchildren Ashley Fink, Adam Fink, Miranda Fink and son Jacob Castor all of Spencer.

Memorial services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Woodrow Frick, pastor, officiating. The body will be cremated and placed in Grace Church Cemetery. Visitation will be in Grace Fellowship Building following the service on Saturday.

Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church Building Fund, or Boy Scout Troop #315 c/o Grace Lutheran Church.

Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove is handling the arrangements.
