Sara Rosetta Boger Sherrill

ROCKWELL - Mrs. Sara Rosetta Boger Sherrill, 85, of Rockwell, passed away Monday, Sept. 19, 2011, at Liberty Commons Nursing Center. 

She was born in Rowan County on Jan. 27, 1926, a daughter of the late John J. Boger, Sr. and Lydia Cauble Boger. Mrs. Sherrill was a 1943 graduate of Rockwell High School and retired from Carolina Maid. 

A lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, she was also a member of the Eicie Earnhardt Sunday School Class, a member of the Jane Boger-Esther Brown Women's Circle, a member of the choir, a former youth adviser and treasurer of her Circle. 

She enjoyed woodworking, making and arranging silk flowers, baking and decorating cakes and was a talented seamstress.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Beauford Ervin Sherrill; a brother, John J. Boger, Jr.; and sister Mae Weddington.

Survivors include daughters Jo Sherrill Fowler and husband Lanny of Rockwell and Nelda Sherrill Rinehart and Floyd Kerr of Deland, Fla.; brothers Dale C. Boger and James L. Boger, both of Salisbury; sister Marie Morgan of Rockwell; grandsons Adam Fowler and wife Channon of Ellerbe and Alan Fowler and wife Delaine of Spencer; and great-grandsons Tyson and Gavin Fowler.

Visitation: The family will receive friends at Immanuel Lutheran Church from 12:45 to 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22.

Services: Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church by Rev. Bruce Sheeks, pastor. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorials: May be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Memorial Fund; or Rowan Regional Hospice.
