RICHFIELD - Mr. Daniel Luther Barringer 81, of 119 Barringer Drive, died Sunday, August 17, 1997, at Stanly Memorial Hospital, Albemarle.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. John Kahl officiating. Burial will be in Richfield Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, August 18, 1997, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle and other times at the home.
Born February 22, 1916 in Cabarrus County, he was a son of the late Clarence Homer Barringer and Mattie Shoe Barringer. A graduate of Richfield School, he was a retired businessman with Rand Construction Company, where he was president. He was also the owner of Barringer Simmental Cattle Farm.
Mr. Barringer was a very active member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Richfield, NC. He served five terms on the church council, three times as chairman. Mr. Barringer was very civic minded and was especially proud of being part of getting water and sewer to Richfield. He served on the Richfield Town Board for years.
He was a charter member of the Richfield Civitan CLub. He was also active in organizing the Richfield/Misenheimer Fire Department.
Mr. Barringer is survived by his wife, Rachael Barringer of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Bradford and Ruby Barringer, James Ray and Brenda Barringer, and Bill and Terri Barringer, all of Richfield, NC; six grandsons, two granddaughters; three great-grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.
