Annie Agnes Thomason Shuping

Mrs. Annie Agnes Thomason Shuping, 98, of Salisbury, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018 at Trinity Oaks Health and Rehab in Salisbury.

Annie was born in the Franklin Community of Rowan County on April 3, 1919 to the late Mattie Mae Bernhardt Thomason and Charlie Gilbert Thomason.

Mrs. Shuping was a graduate of East Spencer High School. She was a long time member of Mt. Zion United Church of Christ in China Grove where she was active as a Sunday School teacher, was a member of the Nancy Fisher Circle and performed many acts of Prayer for and service to others.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Weldren Dwight Shuping, whom she married June 30, 1939; brother, Gilbert Spencer Thomason; and sisters, Estelle Ward, Sarah Goodman, Rebecca Gobble, Beatrice Merrell and Colleene Baxley.

Survivors include sister, Jean Foster of Salisbury; sons, Gene Shuping and wife Reyna of South Carolina and Mack Shuping and wife Martha of Winston Salem; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation & Service: Visitation will be on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018 from 2-3 p.m. at Mt. Zion United Church of Christ with funeral to follow at 3 p.m., also at the church, with Rev. Mark Burns, minister. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the Schmucker family and the staff at Trinity Oaks for their kind help and ministering to Annie's needs as her health declined and to those who sent cards, visited and prayed for her and her family.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Nazareth Children's Home, Rockwell, NC; or Mt Zion United Church of Christ, China Grove, NC.
