Rayvon Whitley

Rayvon Whitley, 75, of Albemarle, passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at his home.

His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 2015, in the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel, Albemarle, with the Rev. Eddie Connell and the Rev. Wayne Sutton officiating.

Following the service, burial will take place at Canton Baptist Church Cemetery in Albemarle.

The family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home, Inc. on Saturday, January 17, 2015, from 12:30-1:30 p.m. prior to the hour of the service.

Rayvon Whitley was born on May 11, 1939, in Stanly County. He was the son of the late Lonnie Lester Whitley and Lizzie Hathcock Whitley.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Chloe Smith Whitley, and later his second wife, Doris Bost Whitley. He is also preceded in death by one grandson, Kyle Allen Eudy.

He was a retired textile employee and of the Baptist Faith.

Survivors include one son, Perry R. Whitley of Oakboro, N.C.; three daughters, Tammy Whitley Howard and husband Benny of Oakboro, N.C., Cindi Whitley Huneycutt and husband Jeff of Albemarle, N.C. and Rhonda Whitley Simpson of Oakboro, N.C.; one brother, Lonnie Elwood Whitley of New London, N.C.; one sister, Helen Burleson of Albemarle, N.C.; 10 grandchildren, Jenny Hatley and Stephanie Treece, both of Albemarle, N.C., Samantha Whitley of Salisbury, N.C., Candace Sutton of Wilmington, N.C., Dustin Howard of Dover, Delaware, Michelle Huneycutt of Locust, N.C., Andrea Huneycutt of Monroe, N.C., Daniel Huneycutt of Albemarle, N.C. and Carmen Hatley and Jarred Simpson of Oakboro, N.C.; and two great-grandchildren, Lily Sutton and Layla Sutton.

Memorials can be made to Hospice of Stanly County.
