Frank Osborne Deal

SALISBURY - Mr. Frank Osborne Deal, 82, of Salisbury, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, at Genesis Nursing Home after a two-year illness. 

He was lovingly known as the mayor of Millbridge to all who knew him. He was always there when his neighbors were in need. 

Mr. Deal graduated from China Grove High School and was a lifelong member of Thyatira Presbyterian Church, where he served as the church sexton for 30 years. He made countless mission trips to help those less fortunate. 

He served in the Korean War where he received the Korean Service Medal with a Bronze Star and a United Nations Service Medal. 

Mr. Deal was a Mason and a member of Millbridge Ruritan Club. He was on the board of Rowan County Parks and Recreation. 

Mr. Deal was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Osborne Deal and Myrtle Freeze Deal; brothers Arnold, Fred, Kenneth and Alvin Deal; and sisters Ruth Femister, Margaret Ridenhour and Faye Sutton. 

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 61 years, Mary Null Deal, to whom he was married April 7, 1951; and his sons, Jerry Deal and wife Sharon and Teddy Deal. He is also survived by grandchildren Jeremy Deal, Danielle Deal and Steven Yates; stepson Donald Fink; brother Billy Deal and wife Sharon of China Grove; and sister Sue Gilliman and husband Mike of Georgia. 

Mr. Deal was employed by Douglas Aircraft and built Nike missiles. He retired from National Aluminum where he was a supervisor for 27 years. 

Visitation and Service: Visitation is Wednesday from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Thyatira Presbyterian Fellowship Hall with memorial service at the church at 12 noon, with Rev. Sandy Kern, minister. 

Memorials: May be made to Thyatira Presbyterian Church, Mount Ulla, NC.
