John Caswell Bell, Jr.

John Caswell Bell, Jr., age 78, of 33689 Ridge Street, Albemarle, NC, passed away on Thursday, August 5th, 2010 at Stanly Regional Medical Center in Albemarle, NC.  

His family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6 PM to 8 PM and his funeral will be at 2 PM on Saturday, August 7th, 2010 at Palestine United Methodist Church. Rev. David Nolan and Rev. Keith Walters will officiate and burial will be in Stanly Gardens of Memory with full military graveside rites conducted by the Stanly County DAV Ritual Team.

Born May 29th, 1932 in Stanly County, NC, Mr. Bell was the son of the late John Caswell Bell, Sr. and Margaret Shaver Bell.

He was a graduate of Albemarle High School. He was a retired Master Sergeant of the US Army with 20 years of service and served in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He also was a member of the DAV Ritual Team, VFW, American Legion, and American Military Society. He was a Field Representative with Teledyne Continental Motors in Muskegon, Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy Blalock Bell, and is survived by his second wife, Shirley Morris-Bell. Other survivors include one son, Douglas Harold Bell of Augusta, GA; one daughter, Anita Faith Sandknop of Summerfield, NC; two brothers: Don Wayne Bell of Grand Junction, CO and Arthur Shaver Bell of Baton Rouge, LA; one sister, Margaret Ann McLaurine of Valley Center, KS; and seven grandchildren: Jan Easton, Leah Bell, Leslie Bell, Jacob Bell, Kayla Sandknop, Carly Sandknop, and Dana Sandknop.

Memorials can be made to: Stanly County DAV, or Palestine United Methodist Church.
