William "Bill" Henry Melchor

William “Bill” Henry Melchor, 75, of Salisbury, NC passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at Autumn Care of Salisbury, NC.

Bill was born December 13, 1947 in Rowan County, NC to the late William Augustus Melchor and Vivian Elizabeth Freeze. He graduated from “The University of South Rowan High School.” Bill retired from Fiber Industries (Kosa) after 37 years. He was a special deputy for the Rowan County Sheriff’s Department for 25 years, and “Mayor of Anchor Downs.” He was past master of Keller Memorial Lodge and a member of the Rowan County Shrine Club.

Preceding him in death was his wife Cathy Lomax Melchor, and brother Phil McCorkle.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Amanda Melchor Pennington (Chadd) and Jennifer Melchor Jennings (Chad) and granddaughter Stella Jennings all of Salisbury, NC.

The family will receive friends from 5-7PM, Sunday, October 29, 2023 at Summersett Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held at 11AM, Monday, October 30, 2023 at Trading Ford Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Mike Motley and Rev. Roger Steadman. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trading Ford Baptist Church music ministry, Rowan County Shrine Club, Keller Memorial Lodge, and Hurley Elementary School.
