Lee M. Morgan

Lee M. Morgan, 76, resident of Coventry Road, died 3 p.m. Friday in High Point Memorial Hospital. He had been in declining health four years and in cricical condition five days.

Mr. Morgan was born March 20, 1898, in Rowan County, a son of Jacob Adam and Norrie Vanhoy Morgan. A resident of High Point and vicinity for forty-two years, he was the owner and operator of Morgan's Jewelry for 15 years. After World War II he taught watchmaking and jewelry repair in Winston-Salem to veterans of that war for four years. Following that he was employed at Saslow's Jewelry in Greensboro for 17 years, retiring Jan. 1, 1970. He was a member of Green Street Baptist Church; a thirty-second degree Mason, Keystone Lodge No. 153 A.M. & F.M. and a veteran of World War I, having served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Utah. On January 2, 1938, he was married to Blanche Howard, who survives of the home.

Surviving, in addition to the wife, are two daughters Mrs. Carl E. (Marilyn) Barker, of Cook Street and Mrs. David (Katlyn) Nance of Rt. 3, Thomasville, N.C.; one brother, Lester Morgan of 410 Forrest Avenue; and three sisters, Mrs. Joel Hearne, of Albermarle and Mrs. Ray Overcash, and Mrs. John Shulenberger, both of China Grove.

Funeral services will be held 4:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon at Green Street Baptist Church by Dr. E.W. Price, Jr. and Dr. Charles F. McDowell. Interment will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery.
