BERLIN - Robert "Bob" Hartsell, 63, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2011, at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin.
Born in Durham, N.C., he was a son of the late Luther Thomas Hartsell and Lois Smith Hartsell.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Truitt Hartsell, and mother-in-law, Helen Truitt of Libertytown. Also surviving is a brother, Albert Hartsell of Robbins, N.C., and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Tammy Steininger, and a brother, Billy Hartsell. He leaves his beloved pugs, Lulu and Lucy.
Mr. Hartsell has been employed for more than 31 years as a truck driver with Tri-State Oil, Triangle Oil and Estes Express. He had also worked in law enforcement with the Berlin Police Department. He was a member and Elder at Faith Chapel Presbyterian Church and was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran. Bob was also a NASCAR enthusiast.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Sally Cordrey will officiate.
