James “Eddie” Poplin

James “Eddie” Poplin, 81, of Albemarle, NC passed away July 11, 2017 in CHS-Stanly. His funeral service will be at 3:00PM on Friday, July 14, 2017 at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church in Albemarle, NC, officiated by Pastor John Petry. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00-2:30PM at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Eddie was born September 16, 1935 in Stanly County to the late Marshall Taylor Poplin and Beulah Burleson Poplin. He was a retired employee of Alcoa where he worked in the pot room for 22 years. Mr. Poplin was also a lifetime farmer working with both beef and dairy cattle. He also enjoyed gardening and sharing his produce with others and was a member of St. Martin’s Lutheran Church where he sang in the choir.

Mr. Poplin is survived by his wife of 63 years Jane Efird Poplin; daughter: Debra Poplin McLester (Rick); sons: Phillip Poplin (Janice), Chris Poplin (Jackie) all of Albemarle; grandchildren: Megan Chamberlin (Mike) of Hillsborough, Sara Poplin of Huntersville, Brynn Poplin of Cornelius, Alex McLester of Raleigh, Brandon Poplin (Ashlee) of Charlotte, and Matthew Poplin of Charlotte; great-granddaughter Grace Elizabeth Chamberlin; and brother Buddy Poplin of Mint Hill. He is preceded in death by his brother Johnny G. Poplin.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Martin’s Lutheran Church.
