Lucille Furr Mauldin

Lucille Furr Mauldin, 75, passed away March 16, 2007, at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital. She was the loving, beautiful wife of Robert E . Mauldin for 57 years and was the daughter of Adam R. Furr and Thaddeus W. Furr of Albemarle, N.C., who preceded her in death.

Lucy is survived by her two loving daughters, Saundra L. Farrow of Newport News and Ronda D. Mauldin of Portsmouth; three grandchildren, Joni and husband Derek Honyoust of Westerville, Ohio, Chris Baker and Justin Baker of Portsmouth. Lucy had three great-grandchildren, all of Portsmouth; one sister, Mildred F. Whitley of Albemarle and brother, Harold R. Furr of Albemarle. Also, her cherished dog Lexie, several nieces and nephews and many friends of both Stanly County, North Carolina and Virginia Beach where she made her wonderful home for 44 years.

Lucy graduated from Oakboro High School in 1950. She was employed at Edgar Casey Foundation and Royster Company for many years before retiring to care for her loving family and home.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of doctors, nurses, and assistant staff of the ER and the 4th floor Cancer Unit of Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital for the loving, loyal and devoted care they gave to our smiling beautiful wife and mother.

A service will be held at noon today at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., with Dr. Robert A. Whitehead Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service today at the funeral home.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the breast cancer research of one’s choice in memory of Lucy F. Mauldlin.
