Martin Eagle

Martin Luther Eagle 70, of Salisbury passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at the Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House. Martin was born on October 4, 1944 in Rowan County, a son of the late David L. and Ethel Starnes Eagle.

Martin retired from the Rowan Salisbury School System, with his last position being at Faith Elementary School. He was a life long member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. Martin loved fishing at the old home place on High Rock Lake, and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, Martin is preceded in death by his brothers, Irvin and Leo Eagle, and sister, Annie Mae Winders.

Martin is survived by his wife of over 49 years, Jo Clark Eagle who he married on August 8, 1965. Sons, Chris Eagle and wife Leslie, and Brad Eagle and wife Kristin all of Rockwell; grandchildren, Bryan Eagle, Hunter Eagle, Sadie Hill and husband John, Lindsay Eagle, Kyler Eagle, Weston Eagle and Gavin Eagle; and one great granddaughter, Sessaleigh Hill. Sisters, Frances Hand, Jean Ludwick and husband Tom, Janie Harrington and husband June, and numerous nieces and nephews. Martin is also survived by special friends Carl and Deb Cope.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 10, 2015 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Family Life Center at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church.

The Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 10th at 11:00 AM at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church conducted by Rev. Gary Coble, Pastor and Rev. William Ketchie. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorials in memory of Martin may be made to the Kiser Hospice House 1229 Statesville Blvd Salisbury NC 28144, or to the St. Matthew's Lutheran Church Improvement Fund 9275 Bringle Ferry Rd. Salisbury NC 28146.
