Dorothy Barnhardt Eagle

CHINA GROVE - Dorothy Barnhardt Eagle, 84, of 3685 Patterson Road, died Wednesday (July 20, 2005) at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte.

Born Dec. 21, 1920, in Rowan County, Mrs. Eagle was a daughter of the late Gilbert Locke and Ethel Freeze Barnhardt. Educated in the Rowan County schools, she was a member of Mount Moriah Lutheran Church, where she was active in the Senior Citizens, the birthday club and the tape ministry. Mrs. Eagle retired from Cannon Mills No. 1 weave room and was a volunteer for Rowan County Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed walking, flower gardening and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Bostian Eagle, on June 15, 1999.

Survivors include son Emmett Eagle and wife Sandra of Lincolnton; daughter Linda E. Miller and husband Steve of Spencer; brother Jay Barnhardt of China Grove; grandchildren Robbie Miller and wife Becka, Allison Miller, Matthew Eagle, Brant Eagle, and Alex Eagle; and step-great-grandson, Justin Wood.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Moriah Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. Joseph Tallent, pastor. Entombment will follow in West Lawn Mausoleum.

Visitation : 7-8:30 tonight at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home, China Grove. The remainder of the time, the family will be at the home on Patterson Road.

Memorials : Memorials may be made to the Social Ministry Fund of Mount Moriah Lutheran Church, China Grove, NC.
