Judith Carter Watkins

SPENCER | Judith Carter Watkins, 65, died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, at Rowan Regional Medical Center in Salisbury after being in declining health for eight months and seriously ill for three weeks.

The funeral will be Tuesday at noon at Tabernacle Baptist Church, where she was a member, in Salisbury by the Revs. Mark Brown and Tony Fox. The body will be placed in the church at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in Old Historic Salisbury National Cemetery.

Mrs. Watkins was born June 14, 1936, in Rowan County to Hattie Ritchie Carter and Daniel Carl Carter. She graduated from Spencer High School and was a member of the Christian Women’s Club. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Watkins was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Adam Watkins Sr., who died Nov. 30, 1984.

Surviving are two sons, Charles A. “Charlie” Watkins Jr. of Spencer and Michael “Bubba” Watkins of Salisbury; four daughters, Teresa Jones of Lexington, Connie Vance of Spencer, Angela “Angie” Mickey of Salisbury and Sandra “Sandy” Kalalau of Clarksburg, WVa; three brothers, Johnny Carter of Salisbury, Phil Carter of Locust and Jimmy Carter of Florida; 14 grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; one great-grandchild; and two sisters, Myrtle Moore of Hagerstown, Md., and Patricia Carter of Salisbury.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Lyerly Funeral Home, 515 S. Main St., Salisbury, and at the home of a son, Michael, at other times.

Memorials may be made to the building fund of Tabernacle Baptist Church, 2515 E. Innes St., Salisbury, NC.
