Libby Gale Lowder Pickler
Libby Gale Lowder Pickler, 78, of Mint Hill passed away on Thursday March 4, 2021. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday March 9, 2021 at Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Delane Burris officiating.
Mrs. Pickler was born May 14, 1942 in Stanly County to the late Roscoe J. & Mayfield Lowder. During her life Gale had many hobbies and passions. One week she might be relaxing on Lake Norman with a good book only to be touring the country the next week with Jim on his motorcycle. These along with her many adventures allowed Gale to have a very full and fulfilled life.
Gale also took great pride in her professional life. After attending the Women’s College of UNC in Greensboro, NC she embarked on a long career as an Executive Assistant starting with E J Snyder Co in Albemarle, NC. During Gale’s 40+ year career she had the honor of working mainly in the financial sector in Charlotte, NC. Gale retired from US Trust in 2001.
After retirement, Gale enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren which she loved very much. She and her husband Jim also had the privilege of touring the country in their RV. They always seemed to be planning a trip somewhere and this allowed them to visit most of the lower 48. They were also able to take a very special trip to Hawaii for their 50th Anniversary provided by daughter Teresa and her family.
Gale is survived by her husband of 59 years James William “Jim” Pickler of Mint Hill, NC; daughter; Teresa Gale Pickler Bessette (Paul) of Austin, TX; son: James William “Jamie” Pickler Jr (Sarah) of Oak Ridge, NC; grandchildren: Pearson Pickler, Jameson, Jarrett, and Jordan Bessette; brothers: Marney (Priscilla), Tim (Patti), and Ronald Lowder, and two sisters.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association to help further the research to fight this very personal disease.
