Notes for Rachel Louise “Lois” Linker
Lois Misenheimer

Louise Rachel Linker “Lois” Misenheimer of Rockwell passed away at home on October 7, 2023, at the impressive age of 98.

She was born July 26, 1925, in Rowan County, to the late Claude and Ethel Hartsell Linker. Mrs. Misenheimer attended Kluttz School. She began her career working with Cannon Mills in Kannapolis, later becoming a beautician. She owned & operated a café with her late husband in Rockwell for many years, specializing in NC barbeque. Cooking was in her bones, and she was known for showing her love for others through food throughout her life. After the café closed, she went on to work and retire from Fiber Industries, where she was a Lab Analyst. Never one to sit still for long, she went on to work at the Granite Knitwear Outlet Store, where she retired a second time in the early 2000s. She was a devoted Christ-follower and longtime member of Ursinus United Church of Christ in Rockwell, where she was active within many of the church’s women’s groups. Mrs. Misenheimer enjoyed crocheting, gardening, cooking (especially baking) and reading. She loved spending time with family, cooking family dinners every Sunday after church, and hosting every holiday at her home in Rockwell. Spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was her greatest delight. She was the matriarch of her family, a role model, and a brilliant example of unconditional love. She touched many lives and will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Theodore Misenheimer; daughter, Joyce Misenheimer Smart; sisters, Grace Brown and Frances Goodman; and great-granddaughter, Haysley Rilee Abernethy.

Mrs. Misenheimer is survived by her children, Charles Michael Misenheimer and wife, Barbara, of Mooresville, Rachel Misenheimer Lapham of Granite Quarry, and Patty Misenheimer Dunn and husband, Dowd, of Rockwell; sister, Oneita Bruce of Rockwell; grandchildren Charles Misenheimer of Osage Beach, MO, Chrissy Misenheimer of Mooresville, Shannon Torello of Wilmington, Roderick Lapham, Jr. of Cannon Air Force Base, Clovis, NM, Cameron Lapham of Granite Quarry, Amanda Reid of Sumter, SC, and Kaitlyn Abernethy of Rockwell; great-grandchildren Kylie Hammerich, Colin Misenheimer, Nathan Zabinski, Savannah Broome, Levi Lapham, Brayden Lapham, Maverick Reid, Aria Reid, Elena Bridges, Tatum Abernethy and Rylee Abernethy.
