Mr. Hugh Edward Almond Jr., 57, of 2432 Bethesda Church Road, passed away suddenly on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2005, at his home. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Oak Grove Baptist Church, 4543 NC Hwy. 772, Madison, of which he was a member with the Rev . Donnie Chandler and the Rev. Ricky Atkins officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Almond was born on Sept. 1, 1947, in Rockingham County to the late Hugh Edward Almond and the late Rosa Stokes Almond. He retired from Duke Power Co., Belews Creek Steam Station after 32 years of faithful service. He made many friends and loved everyone.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Franklin Almond.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Bonnie Newman Almond; his daughters, Angela "Christie" Almond Moretz and her husband, Terry of Eden and Melissa A. Vickers and her husband, Eric of Stokesdale; one grandchild, Jacob Austin Vickers; one sister Marie Almond Holly of Walkertown; one brother, Ted Mack Almond of Kernersville; and a special sister-in-law, Beverly N. Sizemore.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and all other times at the residence.
