John Burgwin Hewett Sr., 81, of Simpsonville, SC, died Dec. 31, 2005, at National Health Care of Greenville.
Born Jan. 27, 1924, in Supply, he was a son of the late John Everett Hewett and Lillie Dora Fulford Hewett.
He was retired as an operations supervisor with the Farmers Home Administration and served as president of the New London Lions Club. He served in the US Coast Guard during WWII, and was an alumnus of North Carolina State University.
He was a member of Simpsonville First Baptist Church.
He was the widower of Ruby Lois Harwood Hewett.
Survivors include four sons, Darrell Hewett of Simpsonville, Alan Hewett of Fountain Inn, SE, Johnny Hewett and Bryan Hewett, both of Holden Beach; nine grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter.
He was predeceased by a daughter; Vinita Hewett-Thorndyke and a grandson.
Funeral services were scheduled at Simpsonville First Baptist church. Burial, with military honors, will take place at the Canton Baptist Church Cemetery in Albemarle.
