James "Jim" Goodman, 86, of Rockwell,, passed away Friday, January 13, 2023 at his home surrounded by family. He was born on August 18, 1936 in Rockwell to the late Roy "Jack" Goodman and Mabel Goodman Goodman.
He attended school at Rockwell High School. Jim worked as a Tire Salesman for Atlantic Oil until his retirement. He enjoyed working his garden, going coastal fishing, and fixing things, especially old blower heaters. He loved to spend time with his family and neighbors at "Pawpaw’s Building" which he built at his home just for that purpose.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by brother, Ben Goodman and sister, Nell Bryant. He is survived by his brother Gwynn Goodman.
Jim is survived by his children, Billy Ray (Vickie) Goodman of Salisbury, Terry (Sandra) Goodman of Rockwell, and Lu Ann (Brian) Putnam of Salisbury; his grandchildren, Dillon Goodman (Melissa) of Texas, Chelsea Williams (Blake) of Oakboro, Kristin Miller of Rockwell, Addie Blair (Ryan) of Jacksonville, Florida and Madison Putnam of Salisbury, Brittany Goodman (Scott) of Hampstead, and Lauren Goodman Dwyer (Tyler) of Hampstead; and great grandchildren, Judah Miller of Rockwell, Carly Cassels of Oakboro, and Harrison Goodman of Texas.
A Graveside Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday January 18th, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Brookhill Memorial Gardens in Rockwell, conducted by Pastor, Bruce Sheeks. Masonic Rites will be provided by Keller Memorial Lodge.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rowan Novant Health Hospice or to St. Jude’s Children's Hospital in Jim's honor.
