George Perry Whisnant
George “Perry” Whisnant, 89, of Salisbury, NC passed away December 21, 2023 at Novant Health Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House.
George was born January 11, 1934 in to Isaac Perry Whisnant and Dorothy Eagle Whisnant. He was a graduate of Spencer High School and proceeded to serve four years in the U.S. Coast Guard. In 1999 George retired from Norfolk & Southern Railway.
George was a lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church. He served as a mason for over 61 years.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 68 years, Patricia Mock Whisnant; son, Scott Thomas Whisnant and wife Ginger; two grandchildren George Perry Whisnant, III and Scarlett Whisnant of Concord, NC; brother, Paul Whisnant of Wilmington, NC and numerous other close relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday (Dec 27) from m1-2 PM at Summersett Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2 PM in Summersett Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Rowan Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital, Greenville, SC.
