Thomasville - John 'Henry' Eagle Sr., 92, of 920 Hasty School Road died May 12, 2000, in Graybrier Nursing center.

He was born Nov. 18, 1907, in Rowan County, a son of George Scott and Essie Summey Eagle. He retired from Globe Furniture Co. after 43 years of service and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a charter member of Hasty Lions Club and served as secretary and president.

He was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church and served as Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School teacher and church usher. He had perfect Sunday School attendance for 47 years.

He was married June 15, 1933, to Mrs. Hattie Mae Weaver Eagle, who survives of the home.

Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Kevil (Carolyn) Hughes of Lexington and Mrs. Bernard (Mary Louise) Chapman of Thomasville; a son, 'John' Henry Eagle Jr. of Kingston Nova Scotia Canada; one sister, Miss Janice Marie Barrier of Salisbury; grandchildren, Christina Hughes Walters, Maureen Eagle Aalders, Brenda Burton, Kelvin Hughes, Stephen Eagle, Jonathan Iselin and Jathaniel Iselin; great-grandchildren, Chistiana Walters, Breanne Aalders, Brennan Aalders, Anthony Hughes, Corrina Walters, Emilie Hughes, Makenna Iselin and Candice Burton.

He was preceded in death death by three sisters, Dorothy Eagle Whisnant Major, Pauline Barrier Caraturo and Helen Barrier and one brother, Clyde M. Eagle.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. B. Joe Parker and Dr. James Summey officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home and other times at the home, 920 Hasty School Road, Thomasville.
