Frank Eagle Whisnant

Frank Eagle Whisnant, age 78, died January 13, 2018 at the NC State Veterans Home after 4 years of declining health.

Frank was born August 29, 1939 in Mecklenburg County, son of the late Isaac Perry Whisnant and Dorothy Eagle Whisnant Major.

He was a 1957 graduate of Spencer High School and also a graduate of Gaston College. He served in the US Navy as a Machinery Repairman aboard the USS Hoist (ARS-40). He was an aircraft designer working for Lockheed Martin and General Dynamics before moving back to Salisbury where he became a licensed Electrician working at Fluor Daniel and retiring from Norandal.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, The American Legion Post 342, Spencer Masonic Lodge 543 and a lifetime member of the NRA.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step father Samuel E. Major.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife Barbara Boggs Whisnant whom he married on June 21, 1969; three sons Donald E. Whisnant of Waterloo, IA, Jeffrey A. Whisnant and wife Jennifer of Salisbury and Kenneth E. Whisnant and wife Bethany of Rockwell; grandchildren Lauren, Lindsey, Calen, Wyatt and Emma Whisnant; brothers George (Perry) Whisnant and wife Patricia of Salisbury and Paul Lee Whisnant of Hampstead.

Visitation: 6-8:00 PM Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Summersett Funeral Home.

Service: 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church conducted by Rev. D. J. Lura with burial to follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
