Joyce Almond Burris, 80, of Albemarle passed away March 26, 2015 in Stanly Manor. Her funeral service will be 4 PM Sunday at Mt. View Baptist Church with Rev. Don Crusenberry officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 until 4 PM at the church prior to the hour of service.
Born August 4, 1934 in Stanly Co., NC, she was the daughter of the late Verdie Henderson Almond and Estella Russell Almond and was a homemaker. She was a member of Mt. View Baptist Church.
Mrs. Burris is survived by her husband James G. Burris Sr. Other survivors include daughters Marcia B. Vanpelt and husband David of Winston-Salem and Donna A. Sides and husband Alex of Albemarle, brother Coy Almond of New London, sister Hazel McLaurin of Cornelius, 9 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
