Jim Almond
Jim David Almond, 87 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Saturday, September 6, 2014, at his home.
Jim was born January 24, 1927, in Stanly County, to the late Harvey Sherrill Almond and the late Troula Almond. He was also preceded in death by his son, Chris Almond; and two sisters, Maggie Hill and Moretha Benton.
The funeral service was on Monday, September 8, 2014, at 3 p.m. at Canton Baptist Church and was officiated by Dr. Mark Mabry and Dr. Eddie Burris. Burial followed at the church cemetery. The family received friends after the burial in the church fellowship hall.
Jim served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy. He was the owner and operator of Almond Hardware, a member of the Singing Americans of Stanly County and also enjoyed serving his church family as a deacon at Canton Baptist Church.
Survivors include wife of 66 years, Cora Lee Cranford Almond of Albemarle; brother, Sherrill Almond Jr. of Norwood; and daughter-in-law, Debbie Almond Morris of Albemarle.
Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Almond family.
