Etta Deese Kirk Hopkins

Funeral services for Mrs. Etta Deese Kirk Hopkins, 94, of Route 5, Albemarle, a homemaker, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Stanly Memorial Chapel with Rev. Gene McCants. Rev. Foster Loflin and Rev. Frank Blalock officiating. Interment followed in Palestine Cemetery.

Mrs. Hopkins died Thursday afternoon in Stanly Memorial Hospital after eight weeks of serious illness. She was born February 3, 1888, in Anson County and was a daughter of the late Calvin and Luvina Honeycutt Deese. She was first married to Emmanuel Kirk who died in 1921, and later to Oscar Hopkins, who died in 1957.

She was a member of Palestine United Methodist Church.

Surviving are a son, Woodrow Kirk of Concord; three daughters, Mrs. Clara Treece, Mrs. Beulah Hall and Mrs. Zula Burris, all of Albemarle; 14 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a stepson, Horace Kirk of New London; two step daughters Mrs. Pauline Hinson of Locust and Mrs. Myrtle Biggers of Indian Trails; 23 stepgrandchildren, and a number of stepgreat and stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
