ALBEMARLE -- Rebecca Geraldine Lomax Smith, 81, 1025 E. Main St., died Monday (Dec. 9, 2002) at Forest Oaks Healthcare Center.
Born March 9, 1921, in Stanly County, Mrs. Smith was a daughter of the late George Henry and Pearlie Ethel Rogers Lomax. She was a homemaker and a member of Plyler Baptist Church.
Her husband, Samuel Otto Smith, died in 1989.
Survivors include son William Roger Smith, Albemarle; daughter Joyce Rhyne, Albemarle; brothers Boyce Worth Lomax, Gold Hill, and Wade W. "Tom" Lomax, Richfield; sisters Ruby G. Hartley, Albemarle, Hilda Frick, New London, and Lois Goodman,Gold Hill; one granddaughter; and three great-grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Plyler Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Alvin Melton. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30. Burial, church cemetery.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Stanly Funeral Home.
