Marvin Eli HATLEY was born April 25, 1923 in Stanly County to Daniel Vance and Ida MORTON HATLEY.
He enlisted in 1942 in Stanly County in the US Navy. He served in the Armed Guard.
On February 5, 1945, Hatley was killed when the ship he was on, a tanker, loaded with fuel and destined for the war, collided with another ship in New York Harbor. He is buried in Bear Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
