Ralph Hudson, 91, of Norwood, passed away Wednesday evening, December 20, 2023 at Atrium Health Cabarrus in Concord.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Cottonville Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Nick Helms, and Mr. AD Hudson will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church.
Ralph was born July 22, 1932 in Stanly County to the late Pearl Clifford Hudson and Flora Mae Frick. He proudly served his country in the US Army as an Atomic Veteran. After serving in the military, Mr. Hudson worked at Collins & Aikman Corporation in Norwood. Ralph was a member of Cottonville Baptist Church and the American Legion #0076.
Ralph never met a stranger! He enjoyed a good conversation with family and friends. It was many years before he was able to share his experience in the war, but when he could he shared his story with others. Ralph enjoyed being outside and always had big gardens. In the fall he planted a big patch of collards and other greens. He would have so many that he put a sign by the road letting folks know to help themselves.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Ashley Dale Hudson; brothers, Bryce Hudson and Vervle Hudson.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Livingston Hudson of the home; daughter Sandra Helms (Greg) of Norwood; daughter in law, Cindy Hudson of Norwood; grandsons, Nick Helms(Jacki) of Albemarle and A. D Hudson of Norwood; great granddaughters , Eva Claire Helms and Susanna Helms.
