Tuesday, May 6, 2008 — Lawrence Richard Freeman, 84, of 42609 Wesley Chapel Road, Misenheimer, died at 12:55 a.m. Monday, May 5, 2008, in Stanly Regional Medical Center.

His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday with a 60-minute state in Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, where he was a member. The Rev. Michael Newton and The Rev. Jimmy Caines will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church following the burial.

Born Oct. 27, 1923, in Davie County, he was a son of the late Luther Calvin and Annie Ella Parks Freeman and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was employed by Pilot Freight Lines as a truck driver and later retired from Fieldcrest Cannon Mills.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Frances Dry Freeman of Misenheimer; two sons, Rick Freeman and Mick Freeman, both of Kannapolis; a daughter, Marilyn Freeman Mearing of Statesville; a stepdaughter, Tina Frick Rice of Chester, S.C.; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Hartsell Funeral Home is in charge.
