Willie 'Bill' Brown

SALISBURY - Willie "Bill" Lee Brown, 74, of Salisbury, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at the Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House.

He was born April 29, 1940 in Rowan County to the late Walter Lee and Willie Gibson Brown.

Bill was a graduate of East Spencer High School. He was the owner of Bill Brown Plumbing, Heating, and Air Conditioning. Bill was a member of First Baptist Church, Spencer Jaycees, Andrew Jackson Lodge, Oasis Shrine Club in Charlotte, and was a member and past Exalted Ruler of the Salisbury Elks Lodge 699.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Michael Ray Brown, his first wife Carol Rachel Brown, and brothers Harry and Charlie Brown.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Linda Bennett Brown, whom he married Dec. 12, 1975; son Allen Brown (Beth); brother James "Buster" Brown (Jean) of Salisbury; sisters Grace Guffy of Las Vegas, Dot Eller (JL), Ann Kesler, and Becky Burrows, all of Salisbury; and grandchildren Whitney and Michael.

Visitation: 1-3 p.m. Saturday, May 24, 2014 at First Baptist Church, 223 North Fulton St., Salisbury, NC 28144.

Services: 3:30 p.m. Saturday, May 24, 2014 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Kenneth Lance officiating.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House.

Lyerly Funeral Home is serving the Brown family.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Michael Goodman and the Wake Forest Cancer Center team and staff for their extraordinary care, to the Kiser Hospice House, and to the friends in the Elks for their loving support during this trying time.
