Ruby Newsome Rone

Ruby Newsome Rone, 93 of Salisbury passed away Friday, March 17, 2017 at Genesis Healthcare of Salisbury.

Born May 22, 1923 in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Tobias Nixon Newsome and Zeffie Ingram Newsome.

She was educated in the Rowan County schools and graduated from East Spencer High School and Salisbury Business College.

Ruby was employed in Washington, DC at the Office of OSS during the war and at the First National Bank and Security Bank in Salisbury.

She was a member of Central United Methodist Church and the Kirby Bible Class.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Rone, Jr. on September 1, 1982, and 8 brothers and 3 sisters.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Jeffery L. Rone and wife Deborah of Salisbury; grandson, Chris Callahan and wife Amanda of Linwood; granddaughter, Jammie Callahan of Lexington; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Sunday (Mar. 19) at the Summersett Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Sunday (Mar. 19) at Summersett Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Don Mason, minister of Central United Methodist Church and Rev. Joe Thomas, minister of Franklin Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Rowan Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church, Spencer, NC.
