Gene Johnson
China Grove - Mr. Harry "Gene" Johnson, 79 of China Grove, passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2014 at Five Oaks Manor in Concord. Gene was born December 22, 1934 in Rowan County, the son of the late, Jess Johnson and Helen Miller Johnson.
Gene was educated in the Rowan County Schools, a member of Rock Grove United Methodist Church, Salisbury. He had retired from Cannon Mills Swink Plant as a Supervisor. Gene was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Alice Fesperman Johnson on May 28, 1999 and also five brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
Survivors: daughter, Jewel "Kim" Hughes and husband, Daniel G. Hughes, Sr., of Salisbury, brother, Bruce Wilson Johnson of Kannapolis, grandson, Daniel G.Hughes, Jr, granddaughter, Kathleen Victoria Calais and husband Joe, great granddaughters, Sarah E. Hughes, Christianna N. Sechler, Kimberly A. Calais and great grandson, Matthew J. Calais.
Visitation: 7:00 to 8:30 PM Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Powles Funeral Home, Rockwell
Funeral Service: 2:00 PM Friday, May 2, 2014 at Rock Grove United Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Randy Lucas, pastor. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove.
Memorials: Rock Grove United Methodist Church, 1048 Shuping Mill Road., Salisbury, NC 28146.
