SALISBURY - Peggy Kluttz Safrit, 77, of Salisbury, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014, at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center.
Born Oct. 20, 1936, in Salisbury, she was the daughter of the late Bernie Jacob Kluttz and Edna Faye Holshouser Kluttz.
She was educated in the Spencer schools and graduated from Spencer High School, where she was on the All County Basketball Team during her senior year.
Mrs. Safrit was employed for Casper Shoes and Rack Room Shoes before retiring.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Spencer, Open Door Sunday School Class, Church Choir and was active in the kitchen.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert L. Kluttz Sr.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of almost 57 years, Jerry L. Safrit; daughter Kathy Campbell and husband Mike of Kannapolis; son Jeff Safrit and wife Candice of China Grove; sister Phyllis K. Byrd of Salisbury; granddaughter Sarah Safrit of China Grove; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Spencer.
Service: Memorial service will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Thursday (March 13) at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Franklin Myers officiating. A private inurnment will be held at Salisbury National Cemetery, Statesville Boulevard.
Memorials: May be made to First Baptist Church of Spencer, P.O. Box 156, Spencer, NC 28159.
