Bertie Herion Morgan
Bertie Herion Morgan, 92, formerly of 1439 N. Main St. in Salisbury, died Tuesday night at Autumn Care of Salisbury, where she had made her home since January 2002.
Born April 22, 1916 in East Spencer, Mrs. Morgan was the daughter of Maggie Young and William M. Herion. She was the last surviving child of the large Clement-Herion family of East Spencer that included her twin brother Albert.
She was a graduate of East Spencer High School, Class of 1933, which she served as student council president. She retired from Fiber Industries in 1978 after 13 years of service. She had also worked at Cartex Mill and VA Hospital food services.
She married Raymond Morgan, an electrician for the Southern Railway, on November 24, 1938; he died in 1985. Her son Richard R. Morgan died in 2002.
She is survived by son Michael Morgan of Nashville, TN, by daughter-in-law Jean Myrick Morgan of Salisbury, and by five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
For many years, she was a member of North Main Baptist Church in Salisbury.
The memorial service will be held Saturday, July 26 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Lyerly's Funeral Home, led by the Rev. Carroll Robinson. Mrs. Morgan's cremains will be buried later in Rowan Memorial Park; there will be no interment service.
