Roy “Wayne” Miller
Dr. Roy Wayne Miller passed away on Jan. 8, 2023, while living in Fairhope, Ala. He was 87 years old. He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Patricia George Miller: sons, Alan, Mark, and Scott; daughter, Kathryn Merritt; and six grandchildren.
He was born in Salisbury and graduated from the University of North Carolina in 1961 [M.D. degree]. He served two years as a Captain in the United States Air Force at Maxwell AF Base. In 1967 he joined the Medical Center Clinic in Pensacola, Fla., until his retirement in 1999. He was President of the MCC PA, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of West Florida Regional Hospital and actually admitted the first patient to the Hospital.
Wayne was dedicated to the care of his patients, following all his children and grandchildren's activities, and especially supporting his UNC Tarheels.
Arrangements: A celebration of life and placement of his ashes in a columbarium is planned for immediate family at the First United Methodist Church where he was a long-time member and usher.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family wishes to have donations made to First United Methodist Church in Pensacola, FL.
